EL SOLAR
El Solar is a project that explores my experiences when I was 12 years old, living in my father’s hometown of Venadillo, Colombia, in 2009. Even to this day, I return to the places that shaped this brief yet deeply significant chapter of my life, now seeing them with a more mature perspective.
The project reflects on the transition from the vibrant city of Bogotá, a dynamic capital, to the rural simplicity of Venadillo, capturing the lasting impact of constantly moving between different worlds—a feeling that has stayed with me ever since.
In this region of Colombia, the word solar refers to a home’s backyard—a space filled with fruit trees, washing boards, animals, and abundant vegetation.
Similarly, Venadillo has become the solar of my life: a place that holds emotions, lessons, and memories to continuously return to, always finding new meaning in them. It was there that I first learned to embrace stillness, to find beauty in the quiet rhythm of daily life, and to understand that home is not just a place, but a feeling that follows you wherever you go.
